WILSON RESIDENCE

Located in Bangalore, Karnataka, this east-facing residence is articulated as a composition of clean horizontal and vertical volumes. The facade is defined by a strong projecting frame that encloses the upper balcony, creating depth and a clear visual order. Large openings and double-height glazing along the vertical stone-clad surface establish a sense of openness while maintaining a controlled and structured frontage.

The design responds to climate through deep overhangs, recessed balconies, and layered facade elements that reduce direct solar exposure. The projecting slab and balcony act as shading devices, while slit windows and screened openings regulate light and privacy. The built form creates shaded transitional zones, especially at the ground level, buffering heat and accommodating outdoor spill over spaces while maintaining a comfortable internal environment.

A restrained material palette of exposed concrete, stone cladding, glass, and wood accents defines the architectural language. The stone surface adds texture and visual weight, while the concrete frame provides sharp definition. Glass railings and large windows introduce lightness and transparency. The composition creates a balanced experience—calm yet defined—with a strong connection between interior spaces and the exterior through balconies, terraces, and framed views
